Tires can be brought to the Washington County Landfill during our Scale House hours.

Monday – Friday: 7 am – 5:30 pm
Saturday: 7am- 3:30pm
Cost for small quanity
Tires will be taken for a nominal fee. The fee covers the cost of hauling tires to a recycling and refurbishing facility.
Car: $1.50/tire
Truck: $2.00/tire
Semi Truck: $4.00/tire
Cost for large Quantity
Commercial haulers with a large quantity of tires: $150.00/ton

Difficulties of landfilling tires
Tires are difficult to landfill by their design. They are 75% voided space that can trap methane gases and cause them to be buoyant or bubble to the surface. This can also cause damage to landfill liners that have been installed to keep our ground water safe. It also releases methane into the air that we breathe. There is a cleaner, safer solution to landfilling tires.
